Rainy Afternoon

I can't think of a better way to spend it!

P.S. Does anyone else have a puppy who loves to sleep under the blanket?

Bobbin Along

Aida stuck her nose in my project bag for Gather Wildflowers last night and made a real mess of the DMC skeins. I figured if I was going to have to untangle a bunch of thread, I may as well try my hand at making bobbins to wind it on. I tried three different methods using my Cricut but none of them came out perfectly. They were still good enough for me to use, and I enjoyed learning how to do something new with my Cricut.

Neat and tidy!

Aida maintains her innocence but I think we all know better!

Gather Round

I finished the second of the Gather Wildflowers "rounds" last night! These are from Hands on Design and just scream COZY! Love at first sight for me, let me tell ya! I've been dragging my feet getting them done (I think they hit my mailbox way back in February...). The next set is due to arrive soon so I need to get busy with the third one.

Happy stitching, y'all!

Some stitching, a nap, and Golden Girls on the TV.

Just us doing us.

Here's hoping your day was filled with good things too!

Pass the Scissors and Glue

I never got into scrapbooking but this whole junk journaling thing is likely to turn into an obsession with me! It's a lot like when I was about nine and glued a bunch of pictures I'd cut out of my Mom's Good Housekeeping magazine onto a Quaker Oats canister for no good reason other than it was fun to play with scissors and glue. It's still fun to play with scissors and glue!

There's no logic to any of these pages although I do sense a sort of flowers and butterflies theme. I don't work on any one page at a time either. It's all very random with me. I hope there aren't any rules for this because if there are I'm pretty sure I'm not doing it right! Cinda Canning would tell me to embrace the mess so that's what I do! Cut and glue!

Here's a bit of a before and after of what I worked on earlier today...

I'm "stuck" for now because Aida has placed an embargo on butterflies.
Embargo on!

by Primrose Cottage Stitches

This sweet little chart was love at first sight for me! I have a thing for birds and birdhouses, and well, houses in general. The more cottagey they are the better!

I'm not 100% thrilled with this finish but it's stuck pretty good to the house sign so I guess it's staying! I might add some doo-dads at a later date but for now it'll have to do. I do love the little "home sweet home" tag I made with my Cricut! (Seriously though, any feedback would be greatly appreciated! I'm trying to get better at finishing!)

Next up is a little Lizzie Kate snippet called Welcome Friends.
Adorable, right? I need to find some linen and pull the threads and I'll be set to go!

Aida is keeping watch out for the UPS man. We're expecting a major sticker and scrapbook paper haul today for our junk journaling!

Welcome Spring!

Welcome Spring
by Heartstring Primitives

Heavens to Murgatroyd! It's been forever since I've blogged!
Happily, I'm back with a finish finish!
This is a freebie from Heartstring Primitives. You can find it here.
I stitched it on some green linen with the called for DMC colors, except for swapping out the ecru used for the clouds with white.

I mounted it on a wooden house sign I found at Dollar Tree. The "roof" was plain so I painted it a sage green and distressed it a bit by dry brushing on some brown paint and sanding it lightly. No finish is complete without a bow, right? Then I had to add a bit of lace at the bottom because I've been junk journaling and it seems like once I get the glue out I can't stop!

Aida sends her love and puppy kisses!
