The Macy's parade was watched. The National Dog Show winner was declared. All the meal planning and prep paid off with a delicious meal. The dishes have been washed and the counters wiped clean. Leftovers have been parceled out. The "gravy explosion" will be a funny story to tell next year. Not quite a scene from a Norman Rockwell painting but I have no complaints!<br /></p><p style="text-align: center;">Today is recovery day, even for Aida. We're enjoying lower temps here in Florida so I have the windows cracked to let in some fresh air and my little fireplace going to make the room nice and cozy. With Aida snuggled in under the blanket next to me, I couldn't want anything more.</p><p style="text-align: center;">I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and has a chance to put their feet up today!</p><p><br /></p>Paisleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09692802752271354563noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31913667.post-64668100991557220722023-11-02T15:01:00.001-04:002023-11-02T15:01:47.200-04:00I'm Back!<div style="text-align: center;">I've had quite a stitching drought here but for good reason... or maybe not so good! I managed to almost slice off the tip of one of my fingers back in September. The middle finger of my right hand to be exact, which is also the finger I use for pushing the needle through the fabric. I'll spare you the gory details but suffice to say, don't ever use a mandolin without the guard! This was by far the worst I've ever cut myself but did I go have it stitched up? Of course not! I wrapped it up in a towel until the bleeding stopped, then slapped a bandage on and went back to slicing potatoes. I really had my heart set on that au gratin casserole, LOL!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">It's still super tender but I've been able to stitch again. The first thing I did was finish my PS Summer Breeze sampler...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJULslKTriiybEF2wJ_tNGPHzmsoRZduRY9QU-43WOjq0kh5KDCtk9ygDQiI1aNXYgw_E-oC0FaVU73K0DVeSGxBQUTl6G31G46aBeAeaohZNtNmHIyG6N7n8l0x9586LZLDlWa3DHyMcTBpVMEklVXJ9CJeT9JmYw9aSS3WnEoWf9ENoqBbtfKA/s2048/IMG_1350.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJULslKTriiybEF2wJ_tNGPHzmsoRZduRY9QU-43WOjq0kh5KDCtk9ygDQiI1aNXYgw_E-oC0FaVU73K0DVeSGxBQUTl6G31G46aBeAeaohZNtNmHIyG6N7n8l0x9586LZLDlWa3DHyMcTBpVMEklVXJ9CJeT9JmYw9aSS3WnEoWf9ENoqBbtfKA/w400-h300/IMG_1350.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">I also finished the Gather Wildflower rounds from Hands on Design and have started the Gather Pumpkins set.</div><div style="text-align: center;"> </div><div style="text-align: center;">I've had plenty of time for cutting and gluing stuff in my scrapbook journal notebook thing. I really don't know what to call it because it's just so random. I did a lot of Halloween themed pages which seemed to trend more towards the creepy side. I'm sure any psychiatrist would raise an eyebrow! I did do a few fun ones, too. My favorite was made from pictures I cut out of a Richard Scarry book.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjucxiKYZbc1Z7ewt1-zIL9GiL95DHK4mR2VSHozr9JEEoJ_gLK6v47c4NKXBqrxSS6VOuJZvyJ7Byi9U9Ojq-reqeOun4GutZcbeIXPVAEJCCuqQeg0EvQ0taTSh_Xxg-ma8wLBmDBvhnTKn5J325Tvdz6CvFhQ58sRjAXaAOq_uhfGn3RNaFIMw/s2048/IMG_1351.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjucxiKYZbc1Z7ewt1-zIL9GiL95DHK4mR2VSHozr9JEEoJ_gLK6v47c4NKXBqrxSS6VOuJZvyJ7Byi9U9Ojq-reqeOun4GutZcbeIXPVAEJCCuqQeg0EvQ0taTSh_Xxg-ma8wLBmDBvhnTKn5J325Tvdz6CvFhQ58sRjAXaAOq_uhfGn3RNaFIMw/w300-h400/IMG_1351.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">There was more to the story but I wanted to keep it simple. Every time I get near her with it now she runs and hides under the bed!</div><div style="text-align: center;"> </div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;">Myself, I was the scavenger version of Rey from Star Wars.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFOZiUgSBBhYwhBuSVP_RGy6eyAHEcJB-zRD_cwqAlrIRR4EZihrhXl7NUMzpXekEfaGDx9q_Zdwyv_qLnjU5G6kXxPDMKEXkYhhmIIfsCW7_9sgLKMHq4V89biH8aY2FczrZfrlzNkDIZVUBxr0e9ONRpWXuM0l6f2zwDCjbdg1yxvhhu7p7rCQ/s2048/IMG_1265.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFOZiUgSBBhYwhBuSVP_RGy6eyAHEcJB-zRD_cwqAlrIRR4EZihrhXl7NUMzpXekEfaGDx9q_Zdwyv_qLnjU5G6kXxPDMKEXkYhhmIIfsCW7_9sgLKMHq4V89biH8aY2FczrZfrlzNkDIZVUBxr0e9ONRpWXuM0l6f2zwDCjbdg1yxvhhu7p7rCQ/w300-h400/IMG_1265.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">My brother helped me make the costume and we participated in a truck or treat event held by the local police and fire departments. I've been a fan since the early 80s so I'm super happy to see them finally win! Aida and I are going to celebrate tonight with Ball Park franks and ice cream in little plastic batting helmets! Woohoo!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Thanks for stopping by! I've never settled on any one way to organize it and I can't say I'm any closer now. Some of it is wound on bobbins that are filed numerically in plastic boxes which was my go-to method back in the 80s when I first started cross stitching. I also have a cabinet with little drawers that I use to organize skeins in. There was a lot that wouldn't fit in the drawers so all of that went in numbered ziplocs which then went in plastic bins. Then there's the Joann's bag with odds and ends because I'm too lazy to check if it needs to be wound on a bobbin, stuck in a drawer, or shoved in a ziploc. I'm telling you, it can be overwhelming!</div><div style="text-align: center;"> </div><div style="text-align: center;">I did manage to get through the bobbin boxes and made a list of what's missing. In the process I ended up getting all nostalgic about my stitching "journey". I remember wanting every color of DMC back when there were only 360 colors and you could get them for a dime. Every time Michaels would have a sale I'd run over with my list on my lunch hour and stock up. My late husband would help me wind it onto the bobbins, and I still have some with his writing on them!</div><div style="text-align: center;"> </div><div style="text-align: center;">I remember my subscription to Cross Stitch & Country Crafts was quite the splurge for a young couple but I loved every issue and would sit out in the back yard on my chaise lounge (remember the ones made with the plastic tubing?) and read every word. I still have all my issues and ended up sitting on the floor with Aida, paging through them. There were quite a few designs I had stitched and even more than I had wanted to.</div><div style="text-align: center;"> </div><div style="text-align: center;">Before I knew it I had picked a pattern, pulled the DMC from my newly organized boxes, found some linen, and got started on a project from the July/August 1986 issue! </div><div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfGPoq1mbqRxf-KmNM2xX5ZQdBIFM_tOX5rS0ltmDsDjo8qCtXN7U27Cs-8hZG1R74PQgO5HVc6Agnc6dQ7xnWmiBpf-UtZX6V5ZHOtDbJ0TjzHkavELsGiQUi4mRDEa5Z81QvEPS8zLz5frajKKnal40GGBVAIG60BscloGuBtyehzUFpcKo/s4032/IMG_0163.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfGPoq1mbqRxf-KmNM2xX5ZQdBIFM_tOX5rS0ltmDsDjo8qCtXN7U27Cs-8hZG1R74PQgO5HVc6Agnc6dQ7xnWmiBpf-UtZX6V5ZHOtDbJ0TjzHkavELsGiQUi4mRDEa5Z81QvEPS8zLz5frajKKnal40GGBVAIG60BscloGuBtyehzUFpcKo/s320/IMG_0163.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>This is called Homespun Still Life and the designer is Lynn Waters Busa. They were still good enough for me to use, and I enjoyed learning how to do something new with my Cricut.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVIelV9F42BkvnmAkASr3_rqvopyCZjL58waVZK9nHXNoCCyik35MHCNZtaWCzuk95DdwMqnOxLKv47z1qNKMEqyOYS_V88aCI0VPGMEOLxF_coSBZNoPiuJBmO92PK3H28y0kDX3Vl8aSMXJBBteRJshwf3GLf9ZiaVaNjxSwT_l9SZLGSws/s2048/IMG_9582.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVIelV9F42BkvnmAkASr3_rqvopyCZjL58waVZK9nHXNoCCyik35MHCNZtaWCzuk95DdwMqnOxLKv47z1qNKMEqyOYS_V88aCI0VPGMEOLxF_coSBZNoPiuJBmO92PK3H28y0kDX3Vl8aSMXJBBteRJshwf3GLf9ZiaVaNjxSwT_l9SZLGSws/w300-h400/IMG_9582.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Neat and tidy!</div><div style="text-align: left;"> </div><div style="text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQsuManKaN38bAAOBg7p96faGZalnMMmVaHjIuGOarwwcbed-7-8elfoJqWamvpTG2gFzpihECRfxUBSSTmkx7vKbzMKgThpN-F7H7TIA1jh3MHPt8_sRsSvyM51tUbFdAryd3UuMaQ668NXgg6AKj4LI1U5MR1EUlhevuAxcHIE2Mhsk7RCE/s2048/IMG_7600.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQsuManKaN38bAAOBg7p96faGZalnMMmVaHjIuGOarwwcbed-7-8elfoJqWamvpTG2gFzpihECRfxUBSSTmkx7vKbzMKgThpN-F7H7TIA1jh3MHPt8_sRsSvyM51tUbFdAryd3UuMaQ668NXgg6AKj4LI1U5MR1EUlhevuAxcHIE2Mhsk7RCE/w300-h400/IMG_7600.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Aida maintains her innocence but I think we all know better!</div></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /> </div><p><br /></p></div>Paisleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09692802752271354563noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31913667.post-9071427617567198722023-04-20T14:59:00.005-04:002023-04-20T14:59:45.705-04:00If You Need Me...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcjPkRMnDi5UwijHsTKooL7RdanAoNRS1pGeSPTk46US140J9hBo-0vtoqv5XmRR3RGDqcrDTcW8ZkdgxxMHMSPv2Aad8oTkh9dt-zhhjFG4_yvMbmCmj5YJcVAr2BvqLrPZ-JtEhUgfVlewmoRz2V4pgsjoNPGV7yw2eerpoej_HzbwrAiv4/s3227/IMG_9578.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3227" data-original-width="2895" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcjPkRMnDi5UwijHsTKooL7RdanAoNRS1pGeSPTk46US140J9hBo-0vtoqv5XmRR3RGDqcrDTcW8ZkdgxxMHMSPv2Aad8oTkh9dt-zhhjFG4_yvMbmCmj5YJcVAr2BvqLrPZ-JtEhUgfVlewmoRz2V4pgsjoNPGV7yw2eerpoej_HzbwrAiv4/w359-h400/IMG_9578.jpg" width="359" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">...you know where to find me!<br /></div>Paisleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09692802752271354563noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31913667.post-34516292024941258882023-04-19T14:34:00.000-04:002023-04-19T14:34:10.023-04:00Gather Round<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkFUEXMIu95vyZjcc6OTLIwC8I2bMGmhDX3JXoR3RffWZvIUjvV0DTZVTG5JXuakcIJT2F_jEfE6gWaA20yCZ0PYQDe7dUivL_BiCkMhrEOmVSd0JQ2Qqamv-agOF0sFshz7f4YDr26oH_9R7ITXD37U0MqWkozwkYf58YqFHBSivM4nMz_UU/s1829/IMG_9570.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1717" data-original-width="1829" height="375" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkFUEXMIu95vyZjcc6OTLIwC8I2bMGmhDX3JXoR3RffWZvIUjvV0DTZVTG5JXuakcIJT2F_jEfE6gWaA20yCZ0PYQDe7dUivL_BiCkMhrEOmVSd0JQ2Qqamv-agOF0sFshz7f4YDr26oH_9R7ITXD37U0MqWkozwkYf58YqFHBSivM4nMz_UU/w400-h375/IMG_9570.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><p style="text-align: center;">I finished the second of the Gather Wildflowers "rounds" last night! Maybe not as much stitching as I would have liked, but I got some more boxes unpacked and my desk cleared off which was a major accomplishment. The rugs are once again piddle-free and the pantry and fridge are stocked. Aida was able to enjoy some sun bathing while I kept to the shade and there was plenty of lap time as you can see from the photo! We watched chick flicks and ate popcorn for dinner and stayed up late braiding each other's hair and talking about boys. Okay, maybe not that last part but we did have a super nice weekend! </div><p style="text-align: left;"></p><p style="text-align: center;">I managed a small start on Lizzie Kate's Summer Sampler. I've only managed to find one box of my DMC so I'm either going to have to do more unpacking or head over to Hobby Lobby!</p><p style="text-align: left;"><br /></p>Paisleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09692802752271354563noreply@blogger.com1
